Leather + Lace Styled Brides

I’m so happy to finally be sharing this styled bridal shoot with you all! Earlier this fall I had been thinking that I really wanted to do a styled wedding shoot with some of my favorite vendors in the Black Hills. Victorias Garden has been one of my absolute favorite vendors since she worked with me on such short notice this summer and knocked my idea out of the park for a styled elopement. I’ve also gotten personal bouquets from Victorias Garden and they are always breathtaking! Vicki is so friendly and has worked with all budgets and ideas I’ve asked of her.

I also reached out to Jillian at Lovestruck Bridal Boutique because when I was a bride myself, I loved the entire experience I got while dress shopping at Lovestruck. It was personal, friendly, and all my nerves about trying on dresses melted away. Plus the dresses are simply beautiful. When she agreed to let me borrow 2 dresses I was so happy and had no clue how I was going to pick.

The day of the shoot my bride and groom models weren’t able to make it. After a minor panic attack I reached out to two of my friends who happily agreed to be my models! Instead of doing the bride and groom that I had planned, I decided to spin the styled shoot to showcase 2 brides (and I didn’t have to pick between both dresses, I got to use both!) and show how a few simple tweaks with styling can give a totally different bridal vibe.

This was where the Hotel Alex Johnson came into play. My location had changed as well when my original bride and groom couldn’t make it. About 30 minutes before we were supposed to start shooting I ran into the Hotel Alex Johnson, explained my situation with the front desk staff and they were incredibly helpful. The manager came down, showed me different rooms I could shoot in and let us end the shoot up at The Vertex! It was a beautiful backdrop for a styled shoot and I can only imagine how perfect it would be for a true wedding.

Taylor was the Lace (more girly and light) bride and Brittney was my Leather (a bit darker and moodier) bride. They each modeled the same bouquet in the same venue with dresses from the same boutique but they each managed to have their own distinct vibe! I think this is important for brides to see because we can get so wrapped into making sure we pick the perfect location, perfect dress, perfect flowers, etc to make our vision come true. However with great vendors and your own unique style, your wedding will be perfectly you! You and your partner are what will make your wedding exactly what you want it to be.

Again, special thanks to all the amazing vendors who lent me their goods and services for this shoot and my amazing friends who were beautiful models. Click below to get connected with each of the vendors!
